If you are arriving from Goa, the drive from Palolem is 65 km and takes around 90 minutes on NH66. From Goa's Dabolim airport it is 90 km, roughly two hours. From Gokarna, Karwar is 58 km north — about 75 minutes.

6:00 AM – Karwar Beach
Start here. Karwar Beach is 1.5 km of dark sand backed by casuarina trees. At sunrise the light on the Western Ghats to the east is genuinely striking. Back near the main beach, this is Karnataka's most unusual free attraction. INS Chapal is a decommissioned missile boat from the Indian Navy, now permanently drydocked as a museum.
