Tucked away in the rugged landscape near Hampi, Big is a waterfall that draws visitors seeking a natural contrast to the ancient ruins and boulder-strewn terrain for which this region is celebrated. Like many waterfalls in Karnataka, it is best visited during or shortly after the monsoon season, when rainfall swells the flow considerably. The walk or drive from Hampi typically passes through scrubland and rocky countryside characteristic of this part of the Deccan plateau.
